Every week the Walnut Valley Kiwanis meet to bring members and events together.  We have a program -- usually a guest speaker.  Although we currently mail our weekly newsletters to our members, every so often we publish them via email.

Bringing in new Members -- late 2008:

Just one month later, Lt. Gov. Mike Tanaka returned to induct new member Arnel Guiang, who is shown with his sponsor, Glendy Chiang.

January, 2008 - Special Edition, Walnut Valley Kiwanis News

What a busy December and January we have had. Not only did we have a heavy schedule preparing and distributing some 140 food baskets for the needy in our area, we also supported the distribution of food and gifts to another 1400+ families through Isaiah’s Rock. All the distributions were done on one day, December 22, and neither our work nor that of Isaiah’s Rock could have been accomplished without the efforts of our members, but especially by the able and solid work done by our two Key Clubs, in Walnut and Diamond Bar High Schools.

In the midst of all this, we inducted a new Walnut Valley Kiwanis Club Member, Octavio Figueroa, owner of Minuteman Press (printing & blueprinting), who actually worked hard on this event even before he was inducted into our Club by our Lt. Governor, Mike Tanaka, at our Club meeting on Dec. 21st.

On January 19, 2008 we cooked hot dogs and hamburgers at the Diamond Bar Winterfest, where we had long lines and many satisfied customers. Again, our Sponsored Youth from the Diamond Bar and Walnut Key Clubs came out in force, making quite a difference not only for our Club, but for the entire event. Volunteers are needed at every community event, and our two Key Clubs are blessed with many members and their desire to serve and make a difference.

On Jan. 21, 2008 we joined the Diamond Bar Key Club who celebrated the year (so far) in review, because many of their leaders and members were seniors who were graduating and needed to focus on that as well as college admissions. This  led to an early installation of officers, so that there would be sufficient time for their training. At the event, we also recognized Kiwanis’ 93rd birthday, and celebrated the joint efforts that the Kiwanis Key Club and the Lions’ Leos are working to unite on some projects.
